Well all said and done IT services was the golden goose and mantra for several IT companies in the last 7 years. But it seems many companies have taken a liking to prune IT services in a big way. According to Economictimes.com HP is on its way pruning the IT services where it is seeing margins in the range of 8-9%. HP the
company that was considered the leaders in printers and desktop computers seems to have realised that they have to move for higher end to cut cost and improve the margins. By acquiring the recent giant of IT services EDS for 25$ Billion Dollars HP was moved into second place in overall revenues after IBM.
HP seems to have started to challenge gear manufacturer Cisco Systems. Analysts seems to believe that HP may focus its guns towards buying software, storage and communications equipment companies rather than IT services. so the future of IT services market seems to being heading for a sea change.

Well as silicondunia had mentioned in its old article the Indian IT and Telecom sector has truely come to age. With IBM clinching the deal of the decade in the year 2004 for 750$ million dollars. The Indian IT behmoths TCS, Wipro and Tech Mahindra are vying for a greater share of IT contract from our own Desi Bharti company. With the recent announcement of its optical fibre network maintainence contract with an ever expanding customer in its broadband with the costs of broadband nosediving and ever increasing indian population and growing number of internet users. Its a great interest to know who would bag this prestigious contract when already the revenues from offshore had started dwindling for the Indian IT companies.

The great Indian outsourcing story may have been coming to a flat growth in the 3rd quarter of year 2009. The Indian IT companies who were growing at a range of at least 30 to 40% y-o-y seems to have indicated a negative growth for the month of august and September. TCS, Infosys, and Wipro the darlings of the Indian IT industry seems to have witnessed in the negative in the overall income. However the pundits of Indian IT still have a strong bet as the Indian companies are striving to overcome the global recession that have taken a toll on the Indian IT sector.
